WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE TEACH
We at GRCC welcomes all faiths and people groups to join in on our worship and fellowships. Although we do not enforce guest to commit to our teaching, we would like you to know who we are and what we will be teaching.
GRCC subscribes and adheres to the 1689 Second London Baptist Confession Of Faith and teaches under the framework of the Five Solas:
Sola Fide, by faith alone
Sola Scriptura, by Scripture alone
Solus Christus, through Christ alone
Sola Gratia, by grace alone
Soli Deo Gloria, glory to God alone
And as having a church membership under the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) denomination, we agree with the statements of the 2000 Baptist Faith And Message.
MISSION STATEMENT:
To glorify God as a body of believers, under the authority of Scripture, through the work of the Holy Spirit, for the purposes of Christ.
VISION:
To see a Hmong Reformed Baptist church that is focused on the worship and mission of God through godly living and faithful preaching.
STYLE:
We are a family-integrated church that believes in the regulative principle of worship, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns (both traditional and contemporary), and spiritual songs.

OUR STORY
Hmong Christianity and Where It Should Be Today
For more than 45 years, Hmong Christianity has been alive and running, building churches and calling the Hmong out of Shamanism. But a general consensus among those who would consider themselves Hmong and Reformed would agree that the Hmong faith has been merely surviving on the clan-community mentality: desiring to come together for the purposes of strength in numbers, and for physical and emotional benefits. Although this has been maintained by the 1st generation Hmong Christians who migrated to the United States in the 70s and 80s, the current Hmong church is struggling to adapt to the American culture with the uprising of Hmong Americans. The second generation-plus Hmong Christians have now begun to investigate the unquestioned Hmong church traditions, resulting in the exploration of historical Christianity and biblical theology, which is a wonderful spirit-led movement.
Because of this new era of knowledge and resources at the palm of our hands, Hmong Christians are now seeking the clarity in the gospel and have begun to question their upbringing in the Hmong church. There is no doubt that a shift in theology and practice is becoming apparent where Hmong Christians are leaving the traditional Hmong churches and are now seeking a biblical model of church that doesn’t revolve around the Hmong culture and its politics. If they are not leaving, they should be leaving, since faithfulness to God comes before family and culture. The power of the Word is beginning to pierce hearts and create convictions, which is causing the Hmong churches to resist to maintain hierarchy and status quo. A Hmong Reformation is on the horizon.
This is where Grace River City Church comes in.
GRCC is the first Hmong confessional Reformed Baptist church plant and is attempting a Hmong Reformation. We started our church plant in the Spring of 2018. Pastor Zong Moua contacted Dr. Tra Xiong of the Hmong National Baptist Association and accepted the task to plant the only existing SBC Hmong church in Sacramento, California. We want to be a Hmong American church who holds onto a biblically and historically-rich Christianity where the gospel is preached faithfully and the Word is practiced in the church family, the natural family, and in the world around.
BUT THE STORY
CONTINUES
The Hmong reformation is now. Join the movement to push for biblical Christianity to the Hmong people. The best way to learn more about us is to drop by our Friday Fellowships or come to our Sunday service at 10am.
